PAC Region 16: Stephen Harper brings "A History of Broadland Piking" to Region 16 on the 21st October!

It is with Great regret and sorrow that I have been put into the position of taking the decision to close the region. Andy and I have tried everything in our power to revitalise the region by any means available to us. I have been talking about this at meetings over the last two years but wanted to give our region a chance to survive.

What IS the reason, is basically due to the head count of PAC members who for whatever reason have not been attending the meetings even when a big name has agreed to do a presentation.

The regional numbers have dropped and it did close before so I believe people / members will show interest again; when that happens the region might just be able to restart.

Andy and I will remain advertised in Pike Lines as ROs for the region so there are PAC contacts in our Area who can encourage new members to attend other regions within reach of where they live during the closure.

Those members who have supported our region consistently over the years I thank you for your support in trying to keep our area going.

Stephen Harper brings "A History of Broadland Piking" to Region 16 on the 21st October!

There can be few serious Pike anglers today that haven't seen the artwork, read the numerous writings of or just simply heard of Stephen Harper.

Accomplished angler, artist and author, Stephen has over the years documented the lives of some of the most proific anglers and great fish captures of Broadland, penned numerous articles and contributed to a whole host of other Pike and specialist angling literature. See HERE for more details.

Stephen has kindly agreed to visit Region 16 on Thursday 21st October 2010 to give his fascinating talk entitled "A History of Broadland Piking" and will have copies of his latest and highly acclaimed book, "Dream Pike".
If you have ever fished the Broads, plan to in the future or just have a passion for the sport's past, present and future, this is a talk you simply cannot afford to miss.

The Pike Anglers' Club of Great Britain

The Pike Anglers' Club of Great Britain was formed in 1977 as a direct result of changing attitudes toward pike. For far too long pike had been regarded by fishery owners and some anglers as vermin, to be killed and removed at all costs. Since it's inception, the PAC has done much to drastically change this mistaken attitude and pike are now widely regarded as a positive element in the natural balance of any fishery.Pike fishing has without doubt become one of the most specialised branches of coarse fishing.
